How to convert JSON to CSV online
- Paste a JSON array of objects into the input box.
- Pick the delimiter and choose how nested objects and arrays should be handled.
- Check the table preview, then copy the CSV into Excel, Google Sheets or a file.
How the conversion works
Each object in the array becomes a row and each distinct key becomes a column. If objects have different keys, the converter builds the union of all keys and leaves missing values empty. A single object is converted to a one-row CSV.
Nested objects and arrays
- Flatten nested objects:
{"user":{"name":"Ada"}}becomes a column nameduser.name. - Keep as JSON string: arrays and objects are written as JSON text inside one cell.
- Join with “;”: simple arrays such as
["a","b"]becomea;b. - One column per index:
tagsbecomestags.0,tags.1, and so on.
Example
JSON: [{"id":1,"user":{"name":"Ada"},"tags":["x","y"]},
{"id":2,"user":{"name":"Linus"},"tags":["z"]}]
CSV (arrays joined with “;”):
id,user.name,tags
1,Ada,x;y
2,Linus,z
CSV to JSON
Switch to CSV → JSON to go the other way. The delimiter is detected automatically, quoted fields and line breaks inside quotes are supported, and you can convert numbers and booleans or rebuild nested objects from dot-notation headers.
Common use cases
- Exporting API responses to a spreadsheet for analysis.
- Importing JSON data into Excel, Google Sheets or a database.
- Sharing data with non-developers in a familiar format.
- Turning a CSV export into JSON for a web application.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert JSON to CSV?
Paste a JSON array of objects into the input. Each object becomes a row and each key becomes a column, and the CSV is generated instantly.
How are nested objects handled?
Nested objects are flattened with dot notation, so {"user":{"name":"Ada"}} becomes a column named user.name. You can also keep nested values as JSON strings.
What happens to arrays inside JSON?
You can keep arrays as JSON strings, join simple values with a semicolon, or expand them into one column per index such as tags.0 and tags.1.
Can I open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Copy the result and paste it into a spreadsheet, or save it as a .csv file. If your spreadsheet expects semicolons, choose the semicolon delimiter.
Can I convert CSV back to JSON?
Yes. Switch to the CSV to JSON mode. The delimiter is detected automatically, and you can convert numbers and booleans and rebuild nested objects from dot notation.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and your data is never sent to a server or stored.
